Our founder’s path to creating Overtime Global wasn’t straightforward. It began with dreams of NFL stardom—dreams that ended abruptly with torn and damaged ligaments. After setting aside his athletic aspirations, he turned to the corporate world, only to be fired the day after being promised a promotion and witnessing a toxic culture where new hires were routinely let go without cause.
These experiences taught him a valuable lesson: he needed to chart his own course.

The Virtual Assistant Disappointment
His first interaction with virtual assistants came about ten years ago as a new entrepreneur. Like many business owners, he invested in a service that promised specialized training programs and personality assessments to match him with the perfect VA.
What he found was disappointing. The virtual assistants weren’t any more qualified than those available at a fraction of the cost. Even more concerning, the company couldn’t explain how their assessments determined whether a VA was right for his specific needs.
After cycling through nearly a dozen virtual assistants without finding success, our founder spent the next decade avoiding the VA industry altogether. Though he consistently needed help, the empty promises that “a virtual assistant will make you money” had left him skeptical.
The Critical Insight
What he didn’t understand at the time—and what would later become a cornerstone of Overtime Global’s philosophy—was that virtual assistants aren’t meant to directly generate revenue.
